Market Analysis & Strategy

One Market. Two Production Paths:
Dry Kibble & Functional Treats.

Pet owners today demand human-grade quality. They want grain-free High-Meat Kibble for daily nutrition, and specialized Dental Chews for their pets’ health.

Standard extruders struggle with high fat content (>15%) and fresh meat slurry. Loyal Machinery solves this with our advanced Steam Pre-conditioning System. By pre-cooking the raw materials before extrusion, we unlock higher meat inclusion rates and ensure zero Salmonella risk.

  • For Staple Food (Kibble): Twin-screw high-temperature extrusion creates a porous, expanded structure that absorbs vacuum oil coatings perfectly.
  • For Pet Treats (Chews): Low-temperature “Cold Extrusion” technology produces dense, tough textures ideal for teeth cleaning, without puffing.
  • Palatability Control: Integrated Vacuum Coating System injects fats and flavors deep into the kibble core, not just the surface.

From Raw Meat to Finished Pack

Our dual-capability engineering supports both High-Meat Kibble (Path A) and Functional Treats (Path B).

1
Preparation

Grinding & Mixing

Raw ingredients (fresh meat, bone meal, grains) are ground to <0.5mm by the Bone Crusher and blended uniformly.

Fine Grinding
2A
Path A: Kibble (Staple)

Pre-Conditioning & Extrusion

Steam Pre-conditioner cooks the meat slurry (killing Salmonella). Then, Twin-Screw Extruder expands the pellets at high temp (120°C+).

High Expansion
2B
Path B: Treats (Chews)

Cold Extrusion & Molding

Operates at lower temps (<80°C) to prevent puffing. The dough is extruded into shapes (bones/stars) or molded for high density.

Non-Expanded
3
Dehydration

Multi-Layer Drying

Kibble: Requires thorough drying to <10% moisture for shelf life.
Treats: May use low-temp aging rooms depending on the recipe (e.g., Jerky).

Vacuum Oil Coating

Essential for cat food. Fats and digest are sprayed under vacuum, penetrating deep into the core to prevent greasiness and boost palatability.

Cooling & Packaging

Product temperature is reduced to ambient levels. Automated scales fill bags (500g – 20kg) with high precision.

Core Extrusion Technologies
Nutrition & Safety

We solve the industry’s biggest challenges: How to add more fresh meat without clogging, and how to make cats love the taste without making the kibble greasy.

Steam Pre-Conditioning

Our Dual-Differential Conditioner extends retention time to 180s. Steam and water pre-cook the meat slurry and flour, ensuring 100% gelatinization and killing bacteria (Salmonella) before extrusion.

Retention Time 120-180 sec
Fresh Meat Cap. Up to 40%

Vacuum Infusion Coating

Standard sprayers leave fat on the surface (greasy). Our Vacuum Coater draws air out of the porous kibble, then injects fats and digest deep into the core. Essential for Cat Food palatability.

Oil Absorption Up to 30%
Surface Feel Dry & Clean

Cold Co-Extrusion

For Dental Chews. We use specialized screw designs to extrude at Low Temperatures (<80°C). This prevents expansion (puffing), creating a dense, chewy texture. Supports multi-color dies for “Meat + Fruit” layers.

Extrusion Temp 60°C – 80°C
Colors Double/Triple

High-Viscosity Meat Slurry System

Adding fresh meat is difficult because it clogs standard pumps. Loyal utilizes a specialized Positive Displacement Pump and jacketed pipes to feed meat paste directly into the Pre-conditioner. This system maintains constant pressure, ensuring every kibble has uniform protein content.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about meat inclusion, twin-screw benefits, and production flexibility.

How much fresh meat can I add to the recipe?

Standard dry extruders can typically handle 10-15% fresh meat slurry. However, our lines equipped with the Dual-Differential Steam Pre-Conditioner can handle up to 30-40% fresh meat inclusion. The pre-conditioner pre-cooks the slurry, preventing the extruder barrel from slipping or clogging.

Why choose a Twin-Screw Extruder over a Single-Screw?

For modern pet food, Twin-Screw is the standard. It offers:
1. Better Mixing: Handles high fat and high moisture recipes.
2. Self-Cleaning: The screws wipe each other clean, reducing maintenance time.
3. Stability: More consistent pressure for uniform kibble shape and density.

Can I make both Dog Food and Cat Food on the same line?

Yes. You can produce both by simply changing the Extruder Dies (molds) and adjusting the cutter speed. However, premium cat food often requires higher fat content, so we recommend adding a Vacuum Coating System to the line to ensure high palatability without a greasy surface.

Can the Kibble Line also make Dental Chews?

Generally, no. Kibble requires high-temperature expansion (puffing). Dental Chews require low-temperature extrusion (non-puffing) to be dense and tough.
While the auxiliary equipment (grinder, mixer) can be shared, the Extruder Screw Configuration and temperature settings are very different. We recommend dedicated lines for optimal quality.

How does the machine ensure food safety (Salmonella control)?

Safety is ensured through Thermal Processing. The Steam Pre-conditioner holds the material at >90°C for up to 180 seconds, and the Extruder barrel reaches >120°C. This dual-heating process effectively eliminates Salmonella and E. coli while gelatinizing the starch for digestion.
