Industrial Microwave Sterilization & Pasteurization System
Eliminate Salmonella, E. coli, and Mold in Spices & Nutritional Powders without compromising flavor or color. A dry, chemical-free process for strict food safety compliance.
Thermal & Non-Thermal:
The Microwave Effect
Conventional sterilization relies solely on high temperatures (120°C+) to kill bacteria, which often “cooks” the product, destroying flavor and color.
Loyal’s Microwave Sterilization utilizes a Dual Mechanism:
- Thermal Effect: Rapidly heats the bacteria protein.
- Non-Thermal Effect: The electromagnetic field changes the cell membrane permeability, causing the bacteria’s cell walls to rupture.
This allows for effective sterilization at much lower temperatures (75°C – 85°C), preserving the essential oils in spices and the active ingredients in supplements.
100% Dry Process
Unlike Steam Sterilization, our system adds zero moisture. Powders remain loose and free-flowing. There is no risk of caking, clumping, or the need for a secondary drying stage.
Clean Label Solution
Unlike Irradiation (which requires warning labels) or EtO Gas (chemical residue), microwave sterilization is a physical process. It leaves no residue and requires no special labeling.
Flavor Retention
By operating at low temperatures (below 85°C) for a short time (3-5 mins), volatile essential oils—the source of aroma in pepper, ginger, and cumin—are fully preserved.
Targeted Pathogen Control
Designed for high-value ingredients where conventional heat or steam would degrade quality. Achieve compliance with FDA, EU, and international food safety standards.
Chili, Pepper & Turmeric
Spices are prone to high bacterial loads (Salmonella) but rely on volatile oils for value. Steam sterilization makes powder damp and dull. Microwave technology kills pathogens at low temperatures without driving off the essential aroma oils.
- Log 4-5 Reduction: Effective against Salmonella and E. coli.
- Color Safe: Preserves the bright red of chili and yellow of turmeric.
- Aroma Locked: Keeps the pungent kick of black pepper intact.
Protein, Starch & Additives
Fine powders are difficult to sterilize because they clump when exposed to moisture (steam). Microwave sterilization is a 100% dry process. It penetrates the powder bed to kill mold and yeast while keeping the texture loose and free-flowing.
- No Caking: Product remains a fine, flowable powder.
- No Drying Needed: Eliminates the need for post-sterilization drying.
- Protein Integrity: Low heat prevents denaturation of proteins.
Sesame, Flaxseed & Quinoa
Raw seeds often contain dormant insect eggs and surface bacteria. Microwave energy penetrates the seed shell to thermally destroy insect eggs and larvae instantly, preventing hatching during storage and extending shelf life.
- Insect Control: 100% kill rate for eggs and larvae.
- Shelf Life: Prevents spoilage during long-term storage.
- Roasting Option: Can be adjusted to lightly roast while sterilizing.
Precision Sterilization Flow
A continuous, automated process designed to reach the target “Kill Temperature” rapidly and cool down immediately to protect product quality.
Sealed Feeding
Powder enters via a Sealed Vibratory Hopper to prevent external contamination and ensure a uniform layer thickness on the belt.
Bactericidal Action
Microwaves penetrate the material layer. The biological effect ruptures bacterial cell walls while the temperature rapidly rises to ~85°C.
Precision Monitor
Infrared Sensors monitor real-time temperature. The PLC automatically adjusts power to ensure every batch hits the kill zone without overheating.
Rapid Cooling
A powerful air-cooling section immediately drops the temperature. This “Thermal Shock” stops cooking, preserving the Color and Essential Oils.
Aseptic Discharge
The sterilized, dry powder is discharged. It is ready for immediate vacuum packaging or bottling in a clean room environment.
Engineered for Food Safety
Meeting strict hygiene standards requires precision. Our machine combines accurate temperature tracking with a clean, sanitary design.
Infrared Temperature Control
Sterilization requires hitting a precise “Kill Zone” (e.g., 85°C) without overheating. We integrate high-precision Non-Contact Infrared Sensors that feed data to the PLC. The system automatically adjusts microwave power to ensure every gram of powder is sterilized but not burned.
Food-Grade Sanitation
Built for the food and pharmaceutical industries. The entire machine interior is crafted from SUS304 Stainless Steel with smooth welds to prevent bacteria accumulation. The conveyor belt is made of food-grade PTFE, resistant to high temperatures and easy to clean.
Water-Cooled Power
Consistent sterilization requires consistent power. We use industrial Water-Cooled Magnetrons rather than air-cooled ones. Water cooling ensures the magnetrons operate at optimal temperatures 24/7, providing stable electromagnetic fields for uniform sterilization.
Technical Specifications
High-throughput sterilization. Since no water evaporation is required, these machines process significantly higher volumes than standard dryers.
| Model | Microwave Power | Sterilization Capacity* | Target Temp | Dimensions (L*W*H) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LY-10S | 10 kW | ~60-80 kg/h | 70°C – 100°C | 7.5 x 1.1 x 1.7 m |
| LY-30S | 30 kW | ~200-250 kg/h | 70°C – 100°C | 11.5 x 1.3 x 1.7 m |
| LY-60S | 60 kW | ~500-600 kg/h | 70°C – 100°C | 14.5 x 1.6 x 1.7 m |

Why is Capacity so High?
Sterilization only requires raising the material temperature (e.g., from 20°C to 85°C), not evaporating water. Therefore, 1 kW of energy can process a much larger mass of powder compared to drying.

Common Questions
Answers about efficacy, product quality, and safety standards.
Can it achieve the kill rate required for export?
Yes. By adjusting the microwave power and belt speed, we can achieve target temperatures (e.g., 85°C) held for specific durations. This typically results in a Log 3 to Log 5 reduction in total plate count (TPC), effectively eliminating Salmonella, E. coli, and Coliforms to meet EU/FDA standards.
Will sterilization change the taste or color of my spices?
Minimal to none. Because microwave sterilization is a Low-Temperature Short-Time (LTST) process (usually under 5 minutes at <85°C), it preserves heat-sensitive volatile oils and pigments far better than steam or irradiation. Your product remains fresh and aromatic.
Can I sterilize products inside the packaging?
It depends on the packaging material. Metal foil bags cannot be used (they block microwaves). Plastic bags can be used if they are heat-resistant. However, for best uniformity, we recommend sterilizing the bulk powder/grain on the belt first, then discharging into an aseptic filling machine.
Does it kill insect eggs in grains?
Yes. Microwaves penetrate the shell of grains (rice, wheat, sesame) and instantly heat the insect eggs or larvae inside. This thermal shock is 100% effective at killing them, preventing hatching during storage.
Is this the same machine as a Microwave Dryer?
Physically similar, but operationally different. A dryer focuses on water evaporation (Latent Heat). A sterilizer focuses on rapidly raising temperature (Sensible Heat) and holding it. Sterilization machines often have specific Insulation Zones and more precise Temperature Feedback Loops.
