Turning Corn Grits into Gold

The secret to high-profit snacks lies in Flash Evaporation. Raw materials like corn grits are subjected to high temperature and pressure inside the extruder barrel.

The moment the material exits the die, the pressure drops instantly, causing the moisture to vaporize and expand the product volume by 3-5 times.

This physical process creates the signature porous, crispy texture of cheese balls and corn curls without the need for chemical additives or deep frying.

Low Production Cost

The main ingredient is inexpensive Corn Grits or Rice Flour. Combined with the high expansion rate, the cost per bag is minimized, maximizing your profit margin.

Non-Fried & Healthy

Unlike potato chips, puff snacks are Baked, not Fried. We use a hot air dryer to remove moisture, followed by a light oil spray for flavoring, resulting in a lower fat content.

Infinite Shapes

One extruder can produce endless shapes—Balls, Rings, Stars, Flowers, or Tubes—simply by changing the Die Mold on the extruder head.

Raw Material Mixing

Corn grits or rice flour are mixed with water to achieve the perfect moisture content (usually 14-18%) for extrusion.

Direct Expansion

Under high temperature and pressure, the material is cooked. Upon exiting the die mold, it instantly expands into shapes like balls, rings, or curls.

Oven Drying

The puffed snacks are conveyed through a multi-layer mesh belt dryer (Electric/Gas) to remove excess moisture, creating that signature “crunch”.

Seasoning Coating

Oil is sprayed onto the snack surface to help seasoning powder (Cheese/BBQ/Chili) stick evenly in a rotating drum system.

Cooling Conveyor

The flavored snacks are cooled down to room temperature to harden the oil coating and prepare them for packaging without condensation.

Vertical Packaging

Fully automated weighing, filling, and nitrogen sealing into pillow bags or stand-up pouches, ready for market distribution.

Answers about raw materials, shape changing, and machine operation.

What raw materials can I use? Can I use whole corn?

You cannot use whole corn kernels directly. The main raw material must be Corn Grits (degermed) or Rice Flour. The particle size should be around 40-60 mesh for best expansion. You can also add small amounts of wheat flour or sugar to adjust the texture.

How do I change the snack shapes?

It’s very simple. You just need to change the Die Mold (Faceplate) at the end of the extruder barrel. We provide a set of molds (Balls, Rings, Stars, etc.) with the machine. Changing a mold takes about 15-20 minutes.

The dryer consumes a lot of power. Are there other options?

Yes. While our standard dryer is Electric, we strongly recommend Gas (LPG/Natural Gas) or Diesel burners for customers with high electricity costs. Gas dryers are generally more cost-effective for continuous production.

Can I upgrade this line to make Core-Filled snacks later?

Yes. The Twin Screw Extruder is the same. To upgrade to Core-Filling, you will need to add a Core Filler (to inject cream) and a Shaping Cutter (to cut filled tubes). You can start with simple puffs and upgrade your line as your business grows.

Do I need to disassemble the screw for cleaning?

No. Our Twin Screw Extruder has a Self-Cleaning Function. When finishing production, you simply run the machine for a few minutes with waste material or water, and the intermeshing screws will clean each other. No manual disassembly is required.
