Industrial Pet Treat & Dental Chew Production Line
Create premium functional treats with precision. Specialized in Cold Extrusion for dental sticks, Two-Color Twists, and meat jerky with precise shape control and high nutritional value.
The Art of Non-Expanding
Cold Extrusion
Unlike standard pet food that puffs up, Dental Chews and Jerky Treats require a dense, tough texture for effective teeth cleaning and long-lasting chewing.
Loyal’s line utilizes Single-Screw Cold Extrusion technology. By precisely controlling the barrel temperature and pressure, we cook the ingredients without expansion.
This process ensures perfect shape retention for complex designs (like star shapes or twisted sticks) and enables Co-Extrusion for premium multi-colored treats.
Cold Extrusion Tech
Operates at controlled temperatures to prevent puffing. This creates a high-density structure essential for dental cleaning functions and durability.
Two-Color Co-Extrusion
Connect two extruders to one die to produce premium dual-color treats. Combine different flavors (e.g., Chicken & Mint) to increase market value.
Precision Shaping
From twisted sticks to hollow centers. Our stable flow control ensures every piece has smooth edges and exact dimensions, perfect for automated packaging.
Precision Extrusion Process
Unlike kibble, treats require shape setting before cutting. Our line features a specialized cooling tunnel to ensure perfectly straight and defined sticks.
Mixing
Raw materials (starch, flour, fresh meat, glycerin) are mixed horizontally. Accurate water/liquid addition is crucial for the extrusion texture.
Cold Extrusion
The single screw extruder pushes dough through precision dies. For two-color treats, a Second Extruder joins here for co-extrusion.
Cooling & Traction
Critical Step: The extruded ropes travel through an 8-10m cooling tunnel. This hardens the surface to prevent deformation during cutting.
Servo Cutting
A rotary cutter cuts the long strips into exact lengths (e.g., 10cm). Precision is vital for fitting into standardized retail packaging.
Drying & Curing
Treats enter a low-temp dryer (45-60°C) for 12-24 hours. This slow “curing” process creates the chewy, durable texture (“al dente”).
Engineered for Precision Shapes
Producing dental chews requires stable pressure and precise temperature control. Our equipment is designed to handle high-viscosity dough without clogging or puffing.
Single Screw Extruder
Specifically designed for non-expanding extrusion. The specially engineered screw geometry ensures consistent flow of dense, sticky materials (starch/gum/meat blends), creating smooth surfaces and sharp details in the final product.
Cooling & Traction Conveyor
Hot treats are soft and easily deformed. Our 8-10 meter cooling tunnel uses powerful fans to rapidly lower the temperature, hardening the outer shell. This ensures the stick remains perfectly straight during traction and cutting.
Servo Rotary Cutter
Treats are sold by the piece, so length accuracy matters. Our cutter uses a Servo Motor synchronized with the extruder speed. It delivers clean, burr-free cuts with a length tolerance of just ±1mm.
Versatile Shape Capabilities
From functional dental care to premium gourmet treats. Our Cold Extrusion process preserves the precise shape and texture required for high-value pet products.
Functional Dental Sticks
Star or gear shapes designed to clean teeth. The cold extrusion ensures sharp ridges that don’t puff up, providing effective mechanical abrasion for plaque removal.
Two-Color Twisted Chews
Using two extruders connected to a single rotary die. This produces eye-catching bi-color spirals (e.g., Mint & Chicken) that command a premium price on the shelf.
Soft Meat Jerky
Flat strips or stick shapes with high fresh meat content. The low-temp process preserves the meaty aroma and creates a soft, chewy texture that dogs love.
Center-Filled Treats
A hard outer shell for dental cleaning combined with a soft, savory filling (e.g., liver paste) inside. Requires precise co-extrusion flow control.
Technical Specifications
Standard configurations for Single-Color production. For Two-Color (Co-Extrusion) treats, an additional extruder and higher power rating are required.
| Model | Output Capacity | Main Motor | Installed Power | Line Dimensions (L*W*H) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LY-100 | 80 – 100 kg/h | 30 kW | 60 kW | 18 x 1.2 x 2.2 m |
| LY-200 | 150 – 200 kg/h | 45 kW | 90 kW | 22 x 1.5 x 2.5 m |
| LY-300 | 250 – 300 kg/h | 75 kW | 130 kW | 28 x 1.5 x 3.0 m |
* Note: Line dimensions include the standard 8-meter cooling tunnel. Length can be adjusted based on factory space.
Limited Factory Length?
Because of the long cooling tunnel, treat lines often require a U-Shape or L-Shape layout. Send us your floor plan, and we will design the most efficient workflow for you.
High Margin vs. High Volume
Choosing the right production line depends on your business model: Premium Functional Treats or Mass Market Staple Food?
Functional Pet Treats
Best for Dental Sticks, Jerky, and Chews. Focuses on high unit price and functionality.
Staple Pet Food (Kibble)
Best for Main Meal production (Dry Dog/Cat Food). Focuses on massive daily volume.

Almost the same size as my calculations it was nice working with you
It has been a very pleasant experience working with Loyal Company. They provided excellent machines and service. Although we have a 7-hour time difference, Loyal Company’s after-sales support was always able to respond to any questions we had while we were working. I believe we will cooperate in the future.
Why Choose Loyal?
Pet treats require precision, not just volume. Our technology focuses on shape retention, multi-color capabilities, and texture control to help you produce high-margin products.
Non-Expanding Tech
Dental sticks must be dense, not puffy. Our Cold Extrusion system precisely controls barrel temperature to cook the dough without expansion, ensuring sharp, functional shapes.
Co-Extrusion Ready
Want to make Two-Color or Center-Filled treats? Our system is modular. You can easily add a second extruder to upgrade your product line and increase market value.
100+ Shape Molds
We offer a massive library of die shapes (Bone, Star, Twist, Heart). We also provide Custom Die Design to help you create unique branded shapes for your dental chews.
Chewy Texture Recipe
Achieving the perfect “al dente” chewiness is hard. We share proven formulas (starch/gelatin ratios) to ensure your treats are tough enough for cleaning teeth but safe to digest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common technical questions about Pet Treat & Chew Production.
Can I use this machine to make dry dog food (Kibble)?
No, not recommended. Kibble requires high-expansion puffing using a Twin-Screw extruder. This line uses a Single-Screw Extruder designed for “Cold Extrusion” (non-expanding) to create dense, chewy textures for dental sticks and jerky. The technologies are different.
How can I produce Two-Color (Co-Extruded) treats?
To produce two-color treats (e.g., Red outside, White filling), you need to configure the line with Two Extruders connecting to a single die head. One extruder processes the shell material, and the other processes the core/filling material.
Why is the production line so long?
Unlike kibble which is cut at the die face, treats come out soft and continuous. They must travel through an 8-10 meter Cooling Tunnel to harden and set their shape before they can be cut by the rotary cutter. Without this length, the treats would deform during cutting.
Can I customize the shape of the treats (e.g., my Logo)?
Yes. The shape is determined by the Extruder Die (Mold). We have a library of standard shapes (Bone, Star, Heart, Twist), and we can also engineer custom dies based on your drawing or sample to produce unique branded shapes.
What are the main raw materials for dental chews?
The main ingredients typically include corn starch, wheat flour, rice flour, glycerin (for flexibility), fresh meat paste, and functional additives (like mint for breath). We can provide a Starter Recipe to help you get the right texture.
