Twin Screw & Single Screw Food Extruders
The heart of your production line. Versatile Twin Screw and efficient Single Screw solutions for Snacks, Pet Food, and TVP. From Lab Scale R&D to high-capacity Industrial manufacturing.
The Key of Modern
Food Processing
Extrusion is a high-temperature short-time (HTST) thermo-mechanical process. It transforms raw ingredients—like grains, proteins, and starches—into structured products with specific textures and shapes.
By precisely controlling the internal environment of the barrel, our extruders act as continuous bioreactors. They cook, sterilize, gelatinize, and texture the material in a matter of seconds.

Which Engine fits your Product?
Choosing between Twin Screw and Single Screw depends on your raw materials, required flexibility, and final product texture.
Twin Screw
The Versatile All-RounderFeatures two intermeshing, co-rotating screws. This design provides superior mixing capability and a “self-cleaning” effect. It handles complex formulas with high oil, sugar, or moisture content easily.
- Co-Rotating: Intense mixing & shear forces.
- Self-Cleaning: Screws wipe each other clean.
- Versatility: Handles wide range of viscosities.
- Precision: Better control over product surge.
Single Screw
The Efficiency SpecialistRelies on drag flow to push material. It builds high, constant pressure but has limited mixing ability. It is highly energy-efficient for specific starchy materials that don’t require intense mixing.
- Energy Efficient: Lower power consumption.
- Constant Pressure: Ideal for dense shaping.
- Simple Design: Easy maintenance & transmission.
- Cost Effective: Lower initial investment.
The Key of the Production Line
The extruder is the critical transformation point. It sits centrally in the processing line, turning mixed raw materials into shaped, textured products ready for drying.
1. Mixing
Raw materials (flour, starch, water) are mixed to a homogenous state in the Mixer.
2. Feeding
Screw conveyor transports material to the extruder hopper at a controlled rate.
3. Extrusion
The Transformation. High heat and shear cook and shape the product instantly.
4. Drying
Products enter the Dryer/Oven to remove moisture and fix the crispy texture.
5. Flavoring
Oil spray and seasoning powder are applied in a coating drum for final taste.
One Machine, Endless Possibilities
By simply changing the Screw Configuration and the Die Mold, our extruders can produce a diverse range of food and feed products.
Twin Screw
Puffed Snacks & Cereals
Direct expansion at the die face creates light, airy textures. The twin-screw action ensures perfect mixing of corn meal, rice flour, and flavors.
Twin Screw
Pet Food & Aqua Feed
Processes high meat/fat content formulas. Control density to create Floating fish feed or Sinking shrimp feed. High heat pasteurizes the kibble for safety.
Twin Screw
Textured Protein (TVP)
High-moisture extrusion aligns plant protein molecules to create a meat-like, fibrous texture. Used for burger patties, nuggets, and vegetarian dishes.
Single Screw
Pasta & 2D Pellets
Uses vacuum extrusion to remove air bubbles, creating dense, smooth, and transparent pasta shapes. Ideal for wheat flour and potato starch products.
Switching Products?
Changing from “Puffed Snacks” to “Pet Food” on a Twin Screw Extruder typically requires changing the Barrel Temperature Profile, the Die Face, and adjusting the Cutter Speed. It takes less than 30 minutes.

Testing CapacityFrom Lab Bench to
Factory Floor
Develop new recipes without wasting tons of raw material. The LY-30 Lab Series is designed with the exact same screw geometry (D/d ratio) and shear profile as our industrial machines, ensuring your test results are 100% scalable.
Small Sample Size
Run tests with as little as 500g of raw material. Perfect for expensive ingredients.
Precise Data Logging
Touch screen PLC records temp, pressure, and torque for accurate recipe replication.
Plug & Play
Compact mobile design. Fits through standard doors and runs on standard power.
Reliable Scale-Up
Geometric similarity ensures your lab success translates to the production line.

Customizable L/D Ratio
Standard Twin Screw L/D ratio is 20:1. For high-cooking applications (like TVP or pre-gelatinized starch), we can extend the barrel up to 32:1 to increase residence time.
Witness Quality In Action
True manufacturing quality isn’t just about machine specs; it’s about the consistent, high-quality products they create. See our extruders proving their value on the factory floor.

Common Questions
Answers to frequently asked questions about machine selection and operation.
Should I choose Twin Screw or Single Screw?
Choose Twin Screw if you need versatility (snacks, pet food, TVP), high oil content handling, and easy cleaning. Choose Single Screw if you are exclusively producing dense starch products like Pasta, Macaroni, or 2D Pellets, as it is more energy-efficient for these specific applications.
Can one machine produce different shapes?
Yes. By simply changing the Die Mold at the end of the barrel, you can change the product shape (balls, rings, stars, pillows) instantly. For different textures (e.g., changing from snacks to pet food), you may need to adjust the screw configuration and barrel temperature.
Is it difficult to clean the machine?
Twin Screw Extruders are “Self-Cleaning.” Because the screws intermesh and co-rotate, they wipe each other clean. You rarely need to disassemble the barrel—just purge with raw material. Single Screw extruders typically require disassembly for thorough cleaning.
What is the lifespan of the screw and barrel?
It depends on the raw material’s abrasiveness. For standard corn/rice applications, our Nitrided 38CrMoAl screws last 1-2 years of continuous operation. We also offer bimetallic alloy liners that can last significantly longer. Screw elements are modular, so you only replace the worn parts, not the whole screw.
Do you provide food formulas/recipes?
Yes. We provide basic starter formulas for snacks, pet food, and pasta upon machine purchase. Our engineers will also assist you during installation to fine-tune the recipe based on your local raw materials.
